Maunder minimum

A prolonged period of significantly reduced sunspot activity observed between approximately 1645 and 1715. During this time, sunspots were exceedingly rare, indicating a decrease in solar magnetic activity. This minimum is associated with a period of cooler temperatures in parts of the Northern Hemisphere, known as the Little Ice Age.
