Rain that falls from an otherwise clear sky, without visible clouds overhead. This phenomenon occurs when precipitation forms at higher altitudes within clouds that are not directly above the observer, and then drifts into an area of clear sky before reaching the ground. It is a relatively rare meteorological occurrence.
