Undercast

A condition where the observer is located above a layer of clouds, with the sky above being clear or partly cloudy. This phenomenon is common at higher elevations or during aircraft flights, where the ground is obscured by the cloud deck. The base of the undercast is typically reported as the ceiling from below.
