Shore ice

  1. Ice that is attached to the coastline or to the seabed in shallow waters, remaining fast and unmoved by currents or winds. This type of ice can extend from the shore out to sea for varying distances, forming a stable platform. It is distinct from pack ice, which drifts freely with ocean currents.

  2. In hydrologic terms, an ice sheet in the form of a long border attached to the bank or shore.; border ice.
