Pack ice

Any area of sea ice that is not fast ice, meaning it is not attached to the coastline or seabed. It consists of individual ice floes that are driven by winds and currents, often forming extensive, dynamic fields. This ice can range from newly formed thin ice to multi-year ice several meters thick.
