Snowstorm

A meteorological event characterized by a continuous and substantial fall of snow over a period of hours or days. These storms are associated with extratropical cyclones or lake-effect snow events and can be accompanied by strong winds, leading to blowing and drifting snow. A blizzard is a specific type of severe snowstorm defined by sustained high winds of at least 35 mph and visibility reduced to less than a quarter mile for three hours or more.
