Standard artillery atmosphere
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009185
A set of tables defining atmospheric properties, such as temperature, pressure, and density, as a function of altitude for a specific time of year and latitude zone. These models are used in ballistics to calculate projectile trajectories under standardized, rather than actual, weather conditions. Each standard artillery atmosphere provides a baseline for firing tables, with corrections applied for deviations from the standard.
