Storm warning

  1. An alert issued by a meteorological agency to inform the public and mariners of an impending severe weather event, such as strong winds, heavy precipitation, or dangerous sea conditions. These warnings provide specific details about the expected hazards and their potential impacts. They are typically issued when sustained winds of 48 to 63 knots (55 to 73 mph) are expected.

  2. A warning of sustained surface winds, or frequent gusts, in the range of 48 knots (55 mph) to 63 knots (73 mph) inclusive, either predicted or occurring, and not directly associated with a tropical cyclone.
