Whole-gale warning

A marine weather advisory issued when sustained winds are forecast to be between 48 and 63 knots (55 to 73 miles per hour), or 10 to 11 on the Beaufort scale. This warning indicates hazardous conditions for all vessels, particularly smaller craft. It is a higher alert level than a gale warning but lower than a hurricane force wind warning.
