Whiteout

A meteorological condition in which visibility is severely reduced due to diffuse light, making it impossible to distinguish the horizon or any features on the ground. This occurs when light is scattered by snow, fog, or clouds, creating a uniformly bright environment. Whiteouts are particularly hazardous in polar regions and mountainous terrain.
