Stream segment

A distinct section of a stream or river, often defined by specific hydrological or geomorphological characteristics, or by its position within a stream ordering system. These segments are used for analysis of flow, water quality, or ecological studies. In the Strahler stream order system, a segment is the portion of a stream between two confluences or from a source to a confluence.
