Subtropics

The geographical and climatic zones located immediately poleward of the tropics, generally between 23.5 and 40 degrees latitude in both hemispheres. These regions are characterized by warm to hot summers and mild winters, with distinct seasonal changes. Many of the world's deserts and Mediterranean climates are found within the subtropics.
