Surge line

A boundary on a weather map or in atmospheric analysis that delineates the leading edge of a surge of cold, dense air. This line often marks a zone of convergence and uplift, which can trigger the development of thunderstorms or other convective activity. It is a feature sometimes observed in the outflow of mesoscale convective systems.
