Survey datum
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009461
A reference system used to define the horizontal and vertical positions of points on the Earth's surface. It consists of a set of reference points and a mathematical model of the Earth's shape, forming the basis for mapping and geodetic measurements. In meteorology, a vertical datum like mean sea level is the standard reference for measuring station elevation, which is required to calculate sea level pressure.
