Climatological station elevation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004385

The vertical distance of a meteorological station's ground level above a standard datum, which is typically mean sea level. This measurement is a required piece of metadata for any observing site, as elevation directly influences temperature, pressure, and other atmospheric variables. The elevation of the barometer is recorded separately and is used for calculating station pressure and its reduction to sea level pressure.
