Barometric reduction table

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003821

A chart or set of data used to calculate the sea-level pressure from a given station pressure. The reduction process accounts for the elevation of the barometer and the mean virtual temperature of the hypothetical air column between the station and sea level. These tables are specific to station elevation and are based on the hypsometric equation.
