Reduction

The process of adjusting meteorological observations to a common reference point or standard condition for comparison and analysis. This often involves correcting for instrumental errors, site characteristics, or varying atmospheric conditions. For instance, barometric pressure readings are reduced to sea level to remove the influence of station elevation.
