Barometric corrections

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003818

Adjustments applied to a pressure reading from a barometer to account for systematic errors and produce a standardized value. The primary corrections are for instrument temperature, the variation of gravity with latitude and elevation, and instrumental error determined by calibration against a standard. The final corrected value is known as station pressure, which is distinct from sea-level pressure.
