Altimeter corrections
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003462
Adjustments applied to an indicated altitude reading from a pressure altimeter to compensate for deviations from standard atmospheric conditions. These corrections account for non-standard temperature, which affects air density, and non-standard surface pressure. Applying these corrections converts the indicated altitude, based on pressure, to a more accurate true altitude above mean sea level.
