Altimeter equation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003463

A mathematical relationship that describes the conversion of atmospheric pressure to altitude, based on the properties of the standard atmosphere. This equation relates pressure at a given height to a reference pressure and temperature, often assuming a constant lapse rate. It forms the basis for calibrating pressure altimeters used in aviation and meteorology.
