Lidar equation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006936
A mathematical expression that describes the power of the backscattered laser signal received by a lidar system from a given range. It relates the received signal to the transmitted laser power, atmospheric scattering and extinction properties, and instrumental parameters. This equation forms the basis for retrieving atmospheric information from lidar data.
