Lidar constant

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006935

A calibration factor used in lidar equations that accounts for the instrument's optical efficiency, detector sensitivity, and geometric factors. This constant converts the raw detected signal into a measure of atmospheric backscatter. It is determined through calibration procedures using targets with known scattering properties or by comparing with other calibrated instruments.
