Scattering efficiency factor
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008692
A dimensionless quantity that describes how effectively a particle scatters incident electromagnetic radiation relative to its geometric cross-sectional area. It is defined as the ratio of the scattering cross-section to the geometric cross-section of the particle. This factor depends on the particle's size, shape, refractive index, and the wavelength of the incident radiation.
