Collision efficiency
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004516
The probability that two cloud particles, after encountering each other due to their relative motion, will actually collide. This efficiency is influenced by factors such as particle size, shape, and electrical charge, which determine the aerodynamic interactions between them. It is a key component in the overall collection efficiency for precipitation growth.
