Thermal efficiency
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009580
The ratio of the useful work output from a heat engine or system to the total heat energy input. In atmospheric contexts, it can relate to the efficiency of atmospheric processes in converting heat energy into kinetic energy, such as in the formation of winds or the development of storms. The Carnot efficiency provides an upper theoretical limit for any heat engine.
