Collision efficiency
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002223
A measure, used for unimolecular and recombination reactions, of how effectively collisions with a given bath molecule remove energy from an excited species, relative to a reference molecule that deactivates it on every collision. The reference strong collider has a value of one, and real bath gases fall below it. The quantity is also called the de-energization efficiency and appears in fall-off treatments of pressure-dependent rate constants.
