Thaw

The process by which ice or frozen ground melts and returns to a liquid or unfrozen state, typically due to rising air temperatures above the freezing point. This phenomenon is common during spring or periods of warmer weather in cold climates. Thawing can lead to increased runoff, soil saturation, and changes in ground stability.
