Tidal prism
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009662
The total volume of water that flows into or out of a tidal inlet or estuary during one half of a tidal cycle, between high tide and low tide. This volume is a measure of the flushing capacity of an estuary, influencing its water quality and sediment transport. It is calculated by multiplying the surface area of the water body by the tidal range.
