Tidal river

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009664

A section of a river that is influenced by the ebb and flow of ocean tides, causing water levels to rise and fall with the tidal cycle. The tidal influence can extend many kilometers upstream from the river mouth, depending on the river's gradient and the tidal range. Salinity in a tidal river can vary significantly with the tide.
