Tidal excursion

The horizontal distance that a parcel of water travels during one half of a tidal cycle, from high tide to low tide or vice versa. This movement is driven by tidal currents and is a key factor in sediment transport and pollutant dispersion in estuaries and coastal waters. Tidal excursion is typically measured in kilometers.
