Tidal stream

A current of water in an ocean or estuary that is generated by the gravitational forces of the moon and sun, causing it to flow in alternating directions with the rising and falling tides. These currents can be quite strong in constricted channels, influencing navigation and sediment transport. Tidal streams are distinct from river currents.
