A strong, squally offshore wind blowing from the land onto a coastal area, particularly used in Spanish-speaking regions to describe a northwesterly or southwesterly gale. A traversia can create hazardous conditions for maritime activities by pushing vessels away from the coast and generating rough seas near the shore.
