A strong, squally westerly wind occurring in the western Mediterranean Sea, particularly along the west coast of Corsica. It is associated with the passage of a low-pressure system and brings stormy weather with heavy rain. This wind is the French equivalent of the Spanish "vendaval" and is known for creating hazardous maritime conditions.
