True mean temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009823
The average temperature for a given period, calculated from a continuous record of temperature readings. In practice, it is approximated by taking frequent, equally spaced measurements over the period, such as hourly or minute-by-minute readings from an automated weather station. This method provides a more accurate representation of the thermal conditions than an average of only the daily maximum and minimum temperatures.
