Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-002934
The direction opposite to the flow of a fluid, such as the wind in the atmosphere. An object or location is upstream from a point of reference if it is situated in the direction from which the current originates. For example, weather conditions upstream of a station will often influence its future weather as systems are advected by the mean atmospheric flow.
