Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012462

The region or side of a membrane from which the feed solution is introduced in a separation process. It is the compartment where the initial mixture to be separated resides before passing through the membrane. The pressure on the upstream side is typically higher than on the downstream side to drive permeation.
