Pervaporation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008694
A membrane-based separation process that involves the selective permeation of a component from a liquid mixture through a dense membrane into a vapor phase. The driving force for separation is the difference in partial pressures of the components across the membrane. This technique is often used for dehydrating organic solvents or separating organic mixtures, with the permeate collected as a vapor on the downstream side.
