Urban canopy layer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009924
The lowest part of the urban atmosphere, extending from the ground to roughly the average height of buildings and trees. Within this layer, air flow and temperature are strongly influenced by the geometry of buildings, street canyons, and artificial heat sources. This layer is distinct from the urban boundary layer, which extends higher into the atmosphere.
