Warm-type occlusion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010093
An occluded front where the air mass behind the cold front is warmer than the air mass ahead of the warm front. In this configuration, the advancing cold front lifts the warm air, but it cannot displace the cooler air mass ahead of the original warm front. This causes the cold front to ride up and over the cooler air, with the warm front remaining at the surface.
