Cold type occlusion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004506
A type of occluded front where the air mass behind the cold front is colder than the air mass ahead of the warm front. As the faster-moving cold front overtakes the warm front, it lifts the warm air mass completely off the ground. This process results in a complex frontal structure with the coldest air at the surface, often leading to widespread precipitation.
