Water content

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010102

The total mass of water in a given volume or mass of a substance, such as air, soil, or a snowpack. In cloud physics, liquid water content (LWC) is the mass of liquid water per unit volume of air, typically expressed in grams per cubic meter (g/m³). Values for LWC in clouds range from near zero in thin cirrus to over 5 g/m³ in the core of strong convective updrafts.
