Water-supply sensitivity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010130

The degree to which a region's water resources are susceptible to changes in climatic conditions, such as variations in precipitation, temperature, or snowmelt patterns. This concept quantifies how alterations in the hydrological cycle impact the availability of water for human and ecological needs. Areas reliant on snowmelt for their water supply often exhibit high water-supply sensitivity.
