Adjoint sensitivity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003307
The measure of how much a particular forecast output or objective function changes in response to small perturbations in the initial conditions or model parameters. Calculated using an adjoint model, it identifies the regions and variables where observations would have the greatest impact on improving a forecast. This information guides targeted observation campaigns and model development.
