Adaptive observations

Meteorological measurements specifically designed and deployed to reduce forecast uncertainty for a particular weather event or region. These observations are guided by real-time information, such as ensemble forecasts or sensitivity analyses, to target areas where additional data will most effectively improve prediction skill. They are often conducted using aircraft or dropsondes.
