Climate sensitivity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004350

The equilibrium global mean surface temperature change that results from a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration. This metric quantifies the responsiveness of the climate system to radiative forcing. Equilibrium climate sensitivity (ECS) is a key parameter in climate models, with current estimates typically ranging from 2.5 to 4.0 degrees Celsius.
