Equilibrium climate

The hypothetical steady state of the Earth's climate system after it has fully adjusted to a sustained change in radiative forcing, such as a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide. This state represents a long-term balance between incoming and outgoing energy. Reaching equilibrium climate can take centuries to millennia.
