Balance
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003783
A state of equilibrium within the atmosphere or a specific atmospheric system, where opposing forces or processes are approximately equal. This condition often implies a steady state or a slow evolution of atmospheric variables. For instance, hydrostatic balance describes the equilibrium between the upward pressure gradient force and the downward gravitational force.
