Gradient flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006017
Atmospheric motion where the air parcel is in equilibrium between the pressure gradient force, the Coriolis force, and the centrifugal force. This type of flow occurs in curved paths, such as around high and low-pressure systems. The gradient wind equation describes this balance, providing a more accurate representation of wind in curved flow than the geostrophic wind.
