Cyclostrophic flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004836
An idealized atmospheric flow where the Coriolis force is negligible compared to the pressure gradient force and the centrifugal force. This balance primarily occurs in small-scale, rapidly rotating vortices such as tornadoes and dust devils, where the radius of curvature is very small. In such flows, air parcels move in circular paths, with the pressure gradient force balanced by the centrifugal force.
