Cyclonic shear
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004835
A type of wind shear where the wind direction changes in a manner consistent with cyclonic rotation, meaning it turns counter-clockwise with height or across a horizontal distance in the Northern Hemisphere. This shear contributes to the development and intensification of cyclonic vortices by enhancing vorticity. It is often observed in the vicinity of fronts and low-pressure systems.
